LetsRun.com Weekly
We said it last week, people: the sport never stops.

Track season is coming to an end, though this week has still seen a sub-13 in the 110m hurdles by Devon Allen, a world record in the 2000m by Francine Niyonsaba, and the Continental Tour Gold meet in Nairobi still to come on Saturday. And cross country is already here -- most of your favorite teams have already raced, with a number of high-profile squads, including reigning national champions BYU and NAU facing top competition this weekend.

The BYU women are in Tallahassee, site of this year's NCAA champs on November 20, to preview the course and race #3 Stanford on Friday morning. The NAU men, meanwhile, are back at the site of their NCAA title in March: Stillwater, Oklahoma, where they'll race #6 OK State, #8 Tulsa, and #12 Colorado on Saturday. Not a bad slate.

Stay tuned, because next weekend we'll have a bunch of college cross country coverage, including LetsRun's Top 10 rankings and an interview with reigning NCAA XC champ Conner Mantz of BYU.

This weekend also marks the final weekend until October 16-17 without a World Marathon Major. It's Berlin next week, then London, and then the Chicago-Boston megaweekend on October 10-11. If you're training, that taper isn't far away. And if you're just watching, stock the fridge because there is plenty of racing to come over the next month.
It's Cross Country Season

  • Increased endurance -- by reducing respiratory rate by 20%, resulting in less lactic acid production
  • Increased strength -- by improving muscular endurance
  • Faster recovery times -- by reducing cortisol buildup by up to 50%
